Seamless Payment Experience for Tourists
With the new eBoracay platform, visitors to Boracay can now easily pay for terminal, environmental, and boat fees online. The process starts at the Tabon Port in Malay, where tourists can log in to guest.eboracay.net to complete their transactions. The system is powered by Surepay Technologies Inc. (SPTI), ensuring a smooth and secure payment experience.
GCash's Group Head of B2B, Jong Layug, shared that this partnership is part of a broader initiative to create a secure, cashless environment that supports sustainable tourism on the island. "We’re expanding this automated and cashless payment system to more access points to Boracay, helping to build a seamless and safe experience for all visitors," Layug said.
Simplifying Payments for Tourists and Locals
Atty. Arnold Caballero, President of SPTI, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership and the ease it brings to tourists and residents alike. “This unified ticketing system is a major step forward in making payments quick and hassle-free. Tourists no longer need to carry cash or fill out forms manually, making their experience more enjoyable,” Caballero noted.
More Payment Flexibility with GCash
To offer even more convenience, GCash provides flexible payment options like GCredit and GGives. GCredit lets tourists extend their travel budget with a credit limit based on their GScore, allowing them to fully enjoy Boracay's attractions, such as Paraw sailing, Puka Beach tours, cliff diving, and dining at popular restaurants that accept GCash.
For those who love shopping at D-Mall, the GGives feature allows users to pay in up to 24 installments, making it easier to enjoy a shopping spree without worrying about upfront costs.
Looking Ahead
Malay Mayor Frolibar Bautista emphasized that the new system not only benefits tourists but also local residents. "With this system, tourists can pay in advance before arriving on the island. In the next phase of the project, even local residents will be able to book and pay online, avoiding long queues," Bautista shared.
This partnership between GCash and the Municipality of Malay is a significant step towards a cash-lite future for Boracay, making it easier and safer for everyone to enjoy the island's beauty and attractions.
