After making the app more secure and reliable in 2023, this year’s focus is on enhancing the user experience and empowering Filipinos to achieve financial progress through its latest features.
These innovations span from payments and lending to advanced security and AI capabilities, offering users more ways to manage their financial journey. But that’s not all—GCash is also committed to environmental sustainability. With its new features, GCash is helping users take part in creating a greener future, combining financial and environmental progress in one platform.
GForest: Make a Difference with Every Transaction
GCash's GForest feature lets users contribute to environmental conservation simply by using the app. Every transaction made through GCash reduces the user’s carbon footprint and earns them green points, which can be used to plant real trees.
These trees are planted by GCash’s partner organizations in collaboration with local farming communities across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Since its launch, GForest has successfully planted nearly 2.8 million trees, and it’s on track to reaching its goal of 10 million digital trees by 2025. To further encourage sustainable practices, GForest has introduced two new features: GImpact and GFarm.
GImpact: Track Your Environmental Contribution
GImpact is a new feature that allows users to see how much they’re reducing carbon emissions with every transaction. With a user-friendly dashboard, GCash users can easily track their impact from digital transactions. The reduced emissions are converted into green points, which can then be used to plant digital trees in GForest.
Users have 24 hours after their transaction to collect their green points. Once they accumulate enough, they can choose to plant a tree of their choice, making a real difference with their everyday actions.
GFarm: Support Local Farmers, One Tree at a Time
The nearly 2.8 million trees planted through GForest have not only revitalized the environment but also supported local farming communities who plant these trees. With the launch of GFarm at FutureCast 2024, GCash is expanding these efforts in areas like Benguet, Cebu, and Cotabato. All proceeds from GFarm go directly to these farmers, providing them with a steady income.
Through GFarm, farmers plant various fruit-bearing trees, such as guyabano, jackfruit, and avocado. They earn additional income from selling the produce, which helps sustain their livelihoods.
Join the Movement: Make a Greener Future with GCash
GCash’s new sustainability features are helping restore the country’s forests and supporting smallholder farmers nationwide. By participating in GForest activities, users are actively contributing to the restoration of biodiversity and the protection of the environment while helping local communities thrive.
Start making a positive impact with every transaction—use GForest today!
