As the fourth addition to MediaTek’s high-end mobile SoC lineup, the Dimensity 9400 promises impressive performance while being energy efficient.
Powerful Performance.
The Dimensity 9400 features MediaTek’s second-generation All Big Core design, which combines one Cortex-X925 core running at 3.62GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores. This setup boosts performance significantly, providing 35% faster single-core speed and 28% faster multi-core speed compared to its predecessor, the Dimensity 9300. Built on TSMC’s 3nm process, the Dimensity 9400 is also 40% more power-efficient, meaning users can enjoy longer battery life without sacrificing performance.
Enhanced AI Capabilities
With the 8th Generation NPU, the Dimensity 9400 brings several firsts in generative AI performance. It is the first mobile chipset capable of on-device LoRA training, high-quality video generation, and support for Agentic AI. This chipset provides up to 80% faster performance for large language models (LLMs) while being 35% more power-efficient than the Dimensity 9300.
Additionally, the new Dimensity Agentic AI Engine (DAE) enhances traditional AI applications, making them more sophisticated. MediaTek is collaborating with developers to create a seamless interface between AI agents and various apps, streamlining the development process and fostering a new ecosystem for advanced AI applications.
Immersive Gaming Experience
Gaming gets a major upgrade with the 12-core Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU, which delivers up to 40% faster ray tracing compared to the previous generation. The Dimensity 9400 introduces PC-level features to smartphones, like opacity micromaps (OMM), for realistic visual effects. The GPU also boasts a 41% increase in peak performance while saving up to 44% more power than the Dimensity 9300, allowing gamers to play longer without recharging. Furthermore, MediaTek’s HyperEngine technology enhances picture quality and resolution for an even better gaming experience.
Impressive Photography Features
With MediaTek Imagiq 1090, the Dimensity 9400 supports HDR video recording at all zoom levels, helping users capture stunning moments even from afar. The Smooth Zoom technology makes it easier to photograph moving subjects. Notably, the chipset is designed to use less power during photo and video capture, providing 14% lower power consumption when recording 4K at 60fps compared to the previous generation.
The Dimensity 9400 includes several advanced features:
- A new 3GPP Release-17 5G modem with 4CC-CA, reaching speeds of up to 7Gbps in sub-6GHz.
- A new 4nm Wi-Fi/Bluetooth combo chip, offering 7.3Gbps data rates and 50% lower power consumption.
- Support for Wi-Fi 7 tri-band MLO for faster connections.
- MediaTek Xtra Range 3.0 extends Wi-Fi coverage by up to 30 meters.
- 5G/4G Dual SIM Dual Active capabilities, providing more flexibility for users.
- Compatibility with tri-fold smartphones, allows manufacturers to innovate with unique designs.
